I Read all the Negative Reviews and Bought this Mirror

My wife's makeup mirror lost much of the mirroring material.
So, she needed a new one.
This mirror is similar to the older style type I bought for her as a gift many years ago from Basco.
This is a Very large triple makeup mirror with two Bright 9 watt flourescent light tubes.
18 Watt Florescent = about 100 Watts incandescent.
IMO, Appears to be one of the brightest makeup mirror avalable.
I looked at the ConAirs and we almost purchased one of the round styles with the light inside.
(but I realized they are not very bright)

I carefully read the negative reviews about this product.
That is why I had to take a chance and buy this mirror.
The reviews that caught my attention were that you need a professional electrical person to replace the bulbs.
And the reviewers that mentioned that the bulbs burned out after a few uses.

I have some electrical experience with light tubes.

My wife told me the bulbs burned out right away.

I came in and had to have a quick look.
No, The lights are not burned out.
The trick is the light is manufactured with the old fashion preheat ballast tubes. (old reliable technology)
In order to light the bulbs you must hold the "ON" switch DOWN for 5 to ten seconds then the lights light and you let go of the switch.

The light bulbs are very bright and should work well for years if you do not damage or drop the mirror.

My wife complains that she has to hold the "ON" button down.
But, the mirror is indeed extremely bright.

When a similar make-up mirrow that I had had for years finally died on me last year, I went out searching for a replacement. I tried the new style oval ones. They were just awful. The mirror was too small and the lighting was depressing. Then I found this one. It's wonderful. You get a decent sized front mirror and two side mirrors that are especially helpful to someone like me who is very myopic. The lighting somehow manages to be extremely flattering (which helps you feel better about yourself) while at the same time shows everything you need to see and possibly alter a bit.

I'm sorry about the reviewer who had a problem with the lights, but that was probably just something that went wrong with one mirror. Mine is a treasure and infinitely superior to the newer style ones out there today.

My old mirror finally died after over 15 years of use. (It didn't survive the move to the new house.) I was thrilled to find that it was still being made, and couldn't be happier with it. It was torture for the week that I had to live without it. It provides the perfect lighting for applying make-up or tweezing my eye brows. I just hope that this one lasts as long as the previous one!!!

Definitely worth taking the time to use properly!

I have been using a mirror such as this one since I got handed-down my grandmother's old Clairol model in my teens. From the 5 or 6 models I have owned (all manner of brands and price ranges) this one is by far the best. It is brighter, and manages to reduces the "dark spots" that are so common in mirrors like this one.

The reviewer previous, who stated that the trick is in holding the "on" button, was exactly correct. I can see where less-patient souls may claim that the bulbs are burnt out or that the appliance is defective. More than likely, it is an operator error.

The mirror is sturdy and the adjustable angles are very helpful for using on various surfaces, such as when traveling. I will definitely look for this brand IF this mirror ever needs to be replaced.

This is the highest quality lighted mirror you will find.

I just ordered this for my mother. We received it and it was a surprise at every turn. First of all we got it in less than two days and it arrived via Fed Express (no extra charge). Then the packaging was among the best I have seen with glass products. But no peanuts or shredded paper mess all over everywhere when you opened the box. The product itself: The weight is a good solid weight. It has multiple angles you can place it at and the stand that you do this with, is heavy gauge metal that is placed in various grooves; not ALL plastic that you fear breaking, everytime you reset the angle. The lighting on both sides is done with tubular as opposed to "Nite Lights" that are used on many mirrors. This produces a phenomenal quality of lighting. There are multiple settings for the type of lightening, depending on the type needed: for outside, office, home, daytime, night time, etc. The large middle mirror can be flipped to reveal a 5x magnified mirror. Another plus is that there is a plug outlet on it so that you could plug in electric rollers, hair dryer or any electric device needed at your vanity. I have owned many make up mirrors in the last thirty years and I hesitated on this at first, because I was not familar with the name brand. I am sure glad I ordered it anyway. Tonight I am ordering another one for myself. I have a lighted mirror already, but I cannot pass on this one. I will use my other one for traveling. You cannot miss with this product. It is worth every extra dollar. And the store that it comes from, is stellar!

The #1 reason I bought this mirror was the other reviews talking about how bright the light was. And it is definitely a big improvement. My other makeup mirror was so dim, I had to have a second light behind it! When the second light burned out, I finally decided it was time to just find a mirror with enough light and this is it! Perfect for tweezing and eye makeup application. There is a small bit of distortion if you are too far away from the mirror, but for the closeup work I use it for, there is no distortion. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I have previously tried the HoMedics Illuminated Satin Nickel Beauty Mirror, only to return it because its incandescent bulb is quite useless. This item (9" high powered 10x Bright White Light Daylight Mirror) on the other hand, is equipped with a circular fluorescent bulb which provides cool, bright illumination.

Why is good illumination so important for a magnifying mirror? When the image in the mirror is magnified, its brightness decreases proportionally. Therefore you really need much stronger light to illuminate the subject (your face). Bright light also makes your pupils contract, which allows people with poor eyesight to focus much better. Finally, a circular light source surrounding the mirror is the best configuration, because it does not cast any shadows on the subject.

This is not to say that this mirror is perfect. Here are some minor annoyances:
1. The 9" diameter mentioned in product description includes the fluorescent bulb. The mirror itself is only 7.5" in diameter.
2. The optical quality of the mirror is decent, but not exactly 'distortion free' at full magnification.
3. Many other magnifying mirrors also offer a flat '1x' surface. This mirror only has one '10x' magnifying surface (*).
4. The white plastic construction looks rather cheap.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find a high quality magnifying mirror for under $100. So considering its relatively low cost, this item is still a good buy.


(*) Footnote / Pet Peeve:
Why do manufacturers of magnifying mirrors always insist on abusing the definition of 'magnification'? For example, a '10x telescope' means its LINEAR magnification factor is 10, so the subject in view appears 100 times larger in area. However, a so-called '10x mirror' in this case means that it makes the subject looks 10 times larger, so its linear magnification is just 3.16 (square-root of 10).

Vision Decor was quick to answer my questions about the item and shipping date. The mirror arrived today. The quality of the glass is good and the image in the mirror is even. I've had moderately priced full length mirrors before where the reflection was sometimes distorted. That is not the case here.

For the price of the item, which includes shipping, I consider this a good buy.

the first mirror i received the wood was cracked so i called mike and he sent me out another one
the second one the mirror was cracked
we took the wood from one and the mirror from the other one and put them together
the mirror is beautiful with a very good image
the best part of this transaction was the customer service i received from mike
if it was not for mike it would have been very stressful

Decent Size Mirror

This mirror arrived intact. No cracks in the glass. Shipping took about a week. The instructions are written in semi-English (looks like they may have been sounded out by someone in Asia), but there aren't many parts, so it's easy to put together. The wood frame around the mirror is not a solid oval piece of wood, but several pieces of wood dovetailed together. If you look closely at the front of the mirror you can see the joints. If you have some cherry polish you may be able to hide them better. Seems fairly sturdy once put together. Comes in a single box. The mirror seems to be a bit slimming and you have to angle it to see the entirety of someone of average height.

This is a beautiful mirror. My only complaint was that it wasn't as dark
of wood as it looked in the picture. It is more the reddish color cherry
wood, but nonetheless it was a very good buy.

This is a very beautiful piece that would add style and class to any room. It is more red than some other cherry finishes, but it is still very nice. My only complaint is that the mirror itself is slightly warped. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

love this mirror love the dark cherry color, like the fact that its rectangular shape more mirror than the oval ones, i had to sand down one lil piece to put together but no biggy, packaging good on it too no complaints and is holding up very well too, and very attractive looking but simple and if you buy it anywhere else it is over 200 PLUS you have to pay shipping i know i looked it up to make sure it was a good quality mirror, i got this for 137 total at the time i got it and worth every penny

We are quite pleased with the mirror although the wood frame and stand are much darker in color than cherry and the legs are not quite straight, so it needed a shim under the left side.

I wasn't sure what to expect for the relatively low price but was pleasantly surprised. The mirror arrived well packaged and intact. It was easy to assemble. There were a few rough spots on the wood/finish. Overall the mirror looks very nice though and the Cherry wood finish looks great with my dark wood flooring.

I ordered this item as part of remodeling a spare bedroom. I was looking for a quality piece of furniture for a good price. This item is listed on Amazon.com as a list price of $228.60 and discounted substantially. It looked like the ideal item. Well, it arrived today, and although it looks ok, it is not what I expected. It looks like a mirror that you might see in a pre-teenager's room, and there is NO WAY that this item could have a list price of $228.60, I would say any list price over $75.00 is way too much for this Taiwan imported item.

The mirror (just the reflective mirror, not including the wood frame) at it's widest part is only 13" wide. I am a tall slender person and I have to stand well back from the mirror to see my whole body at one time. This may be the first item that I have ever purchased through Amazon.com that I am not pleased with.

Note on Delivery: The item arrived by FedEx, and I was watching for the delivery based on the package tracking. I noticed that the FedEx truck drove away from the home next door, which was odd since the home has been vacant for about 2 years. I walked over there and found my package on the porch. The address on the delivery label was correct, but it looks like someone from FedEx had written the wrong address in green magic-marker on the box.

This is my mistake and I can live with it. But I will be careful from now on when dealing with external websites on Amazon.com

Adjustable Floor Mirror

The Adjustable Floor Mirror is great for drying and styling the back of your hair. I wish I had it years ago. You can also flip the mirror to the other side that magnifies which is also great for putting on makeup especially the eyeliner. So for all you women out there it's a great tool to have.

I saw this product in a magazine for $20.00 more and was happy to find it for a more reasonable price. It is cool and victorian looking as well as functional! Easy to put together and ships well in a solid package.
